Your task is to find out about the conditions and reasons for leaving the homeland for each group that you are studying. Freedoms (religious, economic, etc)? Prejudice? Persecution (Dictatorship)? Fair Treatment (socially, educationally)? You will complete this task for both immigrant groups you chose. |
Friend/Family in USA | You are the first person in your family to come to America. You are now living in America. Your task is to find out what life is like for each group that you are researching. Housing? Job and pay? Prejudice? Which part of America? You will complete this task for both immigrant groups you chose. |
Transportation Expert | You own a fleet of boats, trains, horses, cars, planes, roller-skates - you have a hand in every method of travel to America. Anyone who wants to leave the country must see you! Your task is to find out what it was like to travel to America. How did they travel? Boat, Train, Plane, Walking? How long did the trip take? What were some of the conditions and hardships they faced finding a way to travel, and finally during the trip itself. How much did it cost? You will complete this task for both immigrant groups you chose. |
!Above and Beyond! "Native" | You were born and raised in America. Your task is to discover what kind of impact each group you're studying has/had on life in America in general. Loss/gain of opportunities (social, employment, economic)? Cultural Impact? Political Impact? Religious Impact? Lingering Prejudice? You will complete this taskfor both immigrant groups you chose. |
